Walnut ( Juglans sieldiana )

Walnut is known as “the aristocrat of hardwoods”, and is commonly used in fine furniture and fine cabinetry. This “Rolls-Royce” of cabinet woods is the premium grade hardwood of choice with Italian carvers. Not only is walnut beautiful, but compared to other woods, including hardwoods, walnut is especially humidity and moisture stable. Walnut’s high specific gravity (0.55) demands long drying times, but subsequently produces one of the most durable woods for our carvers. Walnut’s tight and slow wavy grain sets it apart from all other woods. Mantels carved in our hardwood of choice come A) unfinished or B) finished in one of three (3) standard hand-rubbed satin finish stain colors.

Pine ( Pinus sylvestris )
Our collaborative international efforts have yielded the best pine at the best price. Our northern pine has outstanding softwood properties, and has been used extensively by wood carvers for centuries. Mantels carved in our softwood of choice come unfinished, ready for staining.

Paint-grade
Our paint-grade ( which is also a pine ) comes ready for paint or popular faux finishes. Mantels in our paint-grade wood are crafted with the same attention to carving detail as our other wood selections

Note: 1) Variations of shade are inherent in our natural materials. Actual products furnished may vary from color representations. 2) Handcrafted natural material products may vary from stated dimensions. Consider allowances of at least 0.5 in.
